It's worth noting, however, that the Infowars app does not store content, which presumably made violations of Apple's guidelines more hard to police. Thankfully, sense has now finally prevailed, with Apple removing the Infowars app from the App Store. But the distribution channel the App Store represents has now been denied to Jones.

While Apple removed Jones and Infowars from its podcast platform in early August, the company took no action against the Infowars app; nor did it explain why it was allowed to remain.

An Apple spokesperson told Mashable at the time the company "does not tolerate hate speech, and we have clear guidelines that creators and developers must follow to ensure we provide a safe environment for all of our users". Professional political satirists and humorists are generally exempt from this requirement. The company said Infowars would not be permitted to return to the App Store.

Alan Wake is coming back… as a TV show
The game's creator, Remedy Entertainment's Sam Lake, is the executive producer. Despite positive reviews, Alan Wake has never received a true sequel.

Business Insider contacted Google for details on its guidelines for the Google Play store, and received this response from a spokesperson: "While we don't comment on specific apps, we can confirm that our content policies are created to provide a great experience for users and developers". The app's popularity jumped from 47th in the US App Store to 3rd in just a couple of days following the saga.

All the eyes now turn towards Google, as InfoWars application is as yet accessible for download in the Google Play Store for Android.

Will Google follow suit and take away another platform for Jones to distribute its conspiracy theories and fake news?
