Apple has completed its acquisition of music recognition app Shazam

There had been fears that Apple would buy and then close down Shazam after integrating its capabilities into iOS or one of its own apps. The official announcement comes just a few weeks after the European Union gave the green light on the deal.

Apple has reportedly acquired music identifying app Shazam, The Next Web points out. If you're a Shazam user, you'll be pleased to know that Apple will make the app completely ad-free in the not so distant future.

Based on a previous report from Recode, the value of Shazam was set around $400 million which was supposedly considered a "big discount".

Considering the fact that Google Assistant does an excellent job at recognizing songs or movies based on the audio it "hears", the question is how many Android users are still using it. Today, Apple leads the world in innovation with iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV.

Shazam offers a high-tech solution to listeners' longtime agony over not recognizing music on the radio or in bars, letting users identify songs through their phones' microphones. Shazam also lets music fans follow favourite artists as well. Later on, Apple promises more great ways to discover and enjoy music. Now, all the needed approvals are a part of the past and Shazam is finally a part of Apple.

Shazam was one of the first app sensations in the era of the smartphone. Apple Music had 36 million subscribers earlier this year.
