Rain has delayed the start of the 26th and final race of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series regular season.

Light misting rain at Indianapolis Motor Speedway put a damper on track activities for the third straight day and forced postponement of the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard until 2 p.m. Monday. It's the first time since at least 1999 - internet records only go back so far unfortunately - that we can find that NASCAR has run a race without practice or qualifying.

It will be part of a unique Monday doubleheader with the Xfinity Series race, the Lilly Diabetes 250, which is set for 10 a.m. ET. A victory gets him to No. 1 in the world ranking. This almost became an issue in last year's Brickyard 400 after a one-hour, 47-minute rain delay took place during the race. There will be two competition cautions on Laps 10 and 30.

Kyle Busch is scheduled to start on the pole alongside Kevin Harvick when the race does begin. This race is set to be broadcast on NBC Sports Network whenever it ends up getting underway.

Jaw-dropping images of Hurricane Florence from space
The International Space Station has posted more foreboding views of Hurricane Florence as it makes its way toward the Carolinas. That also means that colossal weather systems like Hurricane Florence are easy to observe as the spacecraft cruises along.

The Xfinity Series race, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, was also postponed until Monday.

When the 25 running of the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard does commence, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will serve as this year's honorary pace vehicle driver and lead the field to the green flag.
