While many clamor for a signing in the defensive secondary ahead of the team's Week 4 bye, the Panthers have completed a trade with the Buffalo Bills for tackle Marshall Newhouse, the team announced Tuesday afternoon. According to a report, they have acquired offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse from the Buffalo Bills.

The Panthers later added some clarity about the transaction with Bryan Strickland of the team's official website reporting further details.

The 29-year-old Newhouse was taken by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft and also had stints with the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, and Oakland Raiders.

He has played in 103 career games with 70 starts, including the first three games of the 2018 season with Buffalo.

Prosecutors say they were allegedly seeking firearms training and were arrested in possession of five small handguns. An investigation into other potential targets is continuing.

Newhouse started 15 games at right tackle for the Raiders in 2017.

The Bills continue to make moves addressing the depth of their offensive line.

In the absence of Williams and Kalil, second-year tackle Taylor Moton has played well on the right side, and veteran Chris Clark was signed before the team's Week 2 loss to Atlanta to play left tackle. Tackles Matt Kalil and Daryl Williams are on injured reserve, while guard Trai Turner did not play because of a concussion.

The Panthers have a bye this weekend before hosting the New York Giants on October 7.
