Brazil legend Ronaldo becomes main owner at Spanish club Valladolid in €30mn deal

Brazil World Cup victor Ronaldo has become the majority shareholder of Real Valladolid, after purchasing a 51% controlling stake in the Spanish club. "We have the best staff to achieve our aim and our objectives, which are to continue to grow as far as our enthusiasm allows us to".

El Norte de Castilla, which is based in Valladolid said Ronaldo was paying €30 million ($34.8 million) and would complete the deal next week.

Carlos Suarez, who previously owned 66 percent of the shares in the club, believes selling the stake to Ronaldo will only help it succeed.

Speaking at a news conference on Monday, he said: "I have gone through many stages in my training in football to prepare".

Now placed 16th in La Liga log, Ronaldo who plied his trade with likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC and Inter Milan star in his active days, has appealed to the club supporters to rally around and help reposition Valladolid going forward. "My entire life has been about football and this is another great challenge for me, a very big one".

"This new management will be defined by four words: competitiveness, transparency, revolution and social".

Valladolid are back in the top division for the first time since 2013-14.

President to skip Asian summits
While in Europe , the president also will visit Ireland to "renew the deep and historic ties between our two nations". It was originally reported that Trump would be visiting our shores in November after his visit to Papa New Guinea.

"It was not an economic issue, but now Valladolid can play in other leagues, Ronaldo puts us on the map now".

He retired in 2011, having been named Fifa World Player of the Year in 1996, 1997 and 2002. "That I'll buy a club and then go on vacation?"

"Ronaldo does not want to be the visible head and prefers to stay in the background", the newspaper wrote.

Suarez is delighted to welcome Ronaldo on board, confirming that negotiations took just over a month to finalise.

Ronaldo has urged the club's fans to be involved in the project.

Valladolid opened with a 0-0 draw at Girona, lost to defending champion Barcelona 1-0 and drew 0-0 at Getafe.

"From now on we will focus on planning for the future, prioritizing the team", Ronaldo said.
