Warner Bros'. ritzy romantic comedy is on track to collect an estimated $22.2 million in ticket sales at 3,865 theaters in the US and Canada from Friday through Sunday, topping the box office for a third consecutive weekend.

LOS ANGELES "Crazy Rich Asians" isn't slowing down at the box office even in its third weekend in theaters, and is helping to send a strong summer moviegoing season off on a high note. It's possible that the film could beat the previous Labor Day weekend record set by 2007's Halloween.

Warner Bros. also nabbed second place as "The Meg" picked up another $10 million on 3,761 screens.

Operation Finale, which opened earlier in the week, missed Box Office Mojo's forecast of US$7.2 million.

Notley said the province is still committed to its own climate change leadership plan despite the move away from the federal plan. Alberta's current climate plan already includes a price on carbon of $30 per tonne.

New at the multiplex this weekend are MGM's historical drama Operation Finale, which will earn about $6 million at 1,818 theaters, good for fourth place, and Lionsgate's sci-fi thriller Kin, which will earn about $3 million at 2,141 theaters, putting it in the No. 12 spot.

Clinging on: Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - Fallout added $7 million for a third place finish in its fifth weekend. Oscar Isaac plays an Israeli Mossad agent who tracks Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley) to the Buenos Aires suburb where he is living under a false name. And Focus Features' gothic thriller "The Little Stranger" launched on 474 screens to $420,000. Box office tracker comScore is projecting that the 2018 summer box office will net out with around $4.39 billion, up over 14 percent from a year ago when the summer didn't even hit $4 billion. Comparing the Friday-Sunday frame, this year's total box office is up 28 percent, according to ComScore. However, an analyst warned that September is likely going to see a precipitous drop.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through today at US and Canadian theaters, according to comScore.

Final domestic figures will be released Tuesday after the Labor Day holiday.
