Dalton, Green spark Bengals by Ravens

Behind Enemy Lines Zrebiec Morrison offer opposing insight into Bengals-Ravens

Plenty of times in past years they have made the playoffs with a loss at Cincinnati on their resume. And Cincinnati's 34-23 Thursday night win over division rival Baltimore was a pretty big hint that there may be something brewing this season in the Queen City.

The Bengals are two games into the season and remain somewhat of a mystery.

It was capped by Andy Dalton's 49-yard touchdown pass with less than a minute left. New acquisitions John Brown, Michael Crabtree and Willie Snead all caught touchdown passes from Joe Flacco, and rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson got his first taste of National Football League action with the game in-hand late.

Rookie center Billy Price strained his right foot when it was stepped on in the first quarter.

"They preach about Baltimore being so physical". The Bengals answered with a score and on the next play, Baltimore turned it over on downs. The Bengals were ready for the package of plays the Ravens had for rookie quarterback Lamar Jackson, which forced Joe Flacco to run an offense without all the bells and whistles - and he struggled as a result.

Cincinnati built its 21-point lead by piling up 151 yards and 11 first downs. It felt weird. The knee was hurting. "Other than that, it's just the mental side of it". When it's bothering you, it's hard mentally. I thought the offense today, with the drive to put points on the board to go back up by eight was key.

Browns WR Gordon (hamstring) out Sunday vs. Saints
He's the same guy who caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in 2013 and earned first-team All-Pro honors. Gordon missed much of training camp when he took a leave of absence for treatment for drug and alcohol addiction.

"Yep, we're 2-0!" cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick said. "That's exactly how we wanted to start the game". Obviously it was great.

Many observers were surprised the Bengals elected to bring back head coach Marvin Lewis for a 16th season following back-to-back losing campaigns, even though Cincinnati made five straight postseason appearances from 2011-15 and won two division titles in that span.

Much of the blame has been directed at Dalton, who has yet to win a postseason contest. But he already has six touchdown passes versus one interception in the first two games.

Andy Dalton kept the Ravens out of the playoffs a year ago by throwing a long touchdown pass.

"It just happened to fall that way", Green said. "We were gashing them a couple of times". Flacco was on target while playing little more than a half, throwing three touchdown passes. Baltimore also has 10-days to prepare for their next game against the Denver Broncos, and there had better not be any remnants of the performance displayed against Cincinnati.
