Bryson DeChambeau continues his dominant run in the FedEx Cup playoffs, picking up his second straight win with a two-shot victory at the Dell Technologies Championship on Monday. Faced with a challenge of showing his captain something special, DeChambeau rebounded with victories at The Northern Trust and Dell Technologies the last two weeks.

DeChambeau followed up Sunday's brilliant 63 with a 4-under par 67 to finish at 16-under 268.

DeChambeau, Mickelson and Woods finished ninth, 10th and 11th in qualifying, with DeChambeau winning the first two FedEx Cup play-off events in the past fortnight.

"I would have to say I'm extremely happy with the 11 players we have", Furyk said.

"I've been trying to get that week in and week out and I was able to figure something out last week on the putting green and that's kind of progressed me to move forward in the right way".

"So, it's all pretty cool".

But now after back-to-back wins, DeChambeau can start packing his bags for this month's showdown with Europe outside Paris.

"So fortunate also that it's the day before the Ryder Cup picks, although I don't feel that should be a bearing", he said.

And he solidified his claim to be one of Jim Furyk's captain's picks for the American Ryder Cup team, where he would join the likes of Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, back-to-back U.S. Open victor Brooks Koepka and others who have staked a claim to follow Tiger Woods as golf's next big thing.

"The three here made it probably a little easier day than for most captains, " Furyk said at a press conference in West Conshohocken, Pa. "Bryson really separated himself and put an exclamation point on things".

Phil Mickelson, who is also expected to earn one of Furyk's discretionary selections, also reminded the U.S. captain of his credentials with a magnificent closing day 63 for a 10-under-par overall total. That will be good enough for a start in this week's BMW Championship, but he'll need to be in the top 30 after that to make the Tour Championship.

If recent results mean anything, Finau added, "I think I'm going to be a hard guy to look past". "But it certainly doesn't hurt".

Starting the final round one shot behind Abraham Ancer, and among 10 players within four shots of the lead, DeChambeau had a two-putt birdie from 50 feet on No. 7, took the lead with a 12-foot birdie putt on the 220-yard eighth hole, and then hit his approach to 6 feet to a back right pin at No. 9 for his third straight birdie.

Ancer carded a closing 73 to finish five off the lead.

"He's facing the biggest and best fields", Rose said.
