Disney Reanimating ‘Wreck-It Ralph 2’ After Backlash Over Princess Tiana Appearance

Disney darkens Disney Princess Tiana’s complexion after complaints that she’s not black enough

In the trailer for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, Princess Tiana was given a lighter complexion, as well as more Euro-centric facial features.

Ralph Breaks the Internet finds Sugar Rush racer-slash-princess Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) lounging about with a collection of Disney Princesses, including big dreaming waitress-turned-princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose).

Following the outcry, the studio darkened her skin and widened her nose so she looks more like the animated character appeared in 2009′s "The Princess and the Frog", The Wall Street Journal reported last week.

He said that more than 10 ships sailed past him as he headed towards the remote Pacific island, but failed to notice him. Adilang is the youngest of four siblings and arrived back home on 8 September, in good health despite his ordeal.

Not too long ago, the studio faced tons of criticisms in regards to Princess Tiana's whitewashed appearance in "Wreck-it Ralph 2" as seen from the 1st trailer during the Disney Princess reunion scene. In addition to the Twitter backlash, the company evaluated feedback from Anika Noni Rose, the actress who voices Tiana, and from the organization Color of Change, which advocates fair media representation of people of color. The effort prompted substantial changes in Tiana's appearance as the film November 21 opening nears. The organization released a statement commending Disney for deciding to take the time to change Tiana's features following the backlash.

They hailed Disney's decision as a "victory" for the black community.

But after Disney chose to redo Princess Tiana's looks, the organisation praised the studio's decision, "The whitewashed image of Tiana you created for your new film, Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, is unacceptable".
