"But every couple years folks sat out and said 'well, I did my part, I voted once, I'm done, I'm out, '" she said. "If we want qualified people that we trust, then people have to vote". But they spoke about issues that are particularly key to Democratic electoral wins, like harnessing the political power of Latino communities and ensuring voter participation even in off-year, midterm elections, when Democratic turnout tends to lag behind Republican participation.

People interested in attending the rally can go to the When We All Vote website.

Ultimately the message was that not registering to vote and cast ballots this fall was asking someone else to make decisions.

Obama is on a campaign for the nonpartisan nonprofit organization she co-chairs, When We All Vote. Rallygoers in Nevada cheered her husband when his name was mentioned, and she jokingly told the audience "Stop this" when one yelled she should run for president. The organization promotes participation regardless of political affiliation.

Voters this November will decide a number of consequential races, including governor, USA senator and a dozen constitutional amendments that could see most ex-felons given the right to vote and greyhound racing banned in the state, among other things.

Noémie Charton, a spokeswoman for Switzerland's foreign ministry, told CNN the ministry was aware of the attack. The company did not give the nationalities of the crew members.

'Stop this, ' she laughed in response.

Other celebrity co-chairs like country singer Faith Hill and actor Tom Hanks are scheduled to appear at events to push voting.

"I'm sure many of you out here have been experiencing, let's call it, 'mild frustration, ' " he said.

The tour will cover 10 cities and kick off in Chicago on November 13, the day of the books release.

Her appearances will be at venues of 15,000 and higher in capacity and tickets range from just under $30 to $3,000. "That moment when Michelle Obama officiated at your (cousin's) wedding!"
