Doctor Who Premiere Date Announced, Jodie Whittaker Season Shifts to Sundays

Its historic eleventh season - which stars Jodie Whittaker as the first female Doctor - will premiere Sunday, Oct. 7 worldwide.

The sci-fi classic has traditionally been part of Saturday evening television, with the exception of its specials, and this marks the first time the series has changed time-slot since it was revived in 2005. All we know is that the USA premiere will air in the afternoon simultaneously with its United Kingdom debut with a special encore airing later that day in Doctor Who's regular Sunday evening slot.

Doctor Who will formally introduce its first-ever female Doctor this October, and on a new night. Behind the scenes, Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch) will take the reins as showrunner, replacing Steven Moffat.

Embattled blood-testing firm Theranos to dissolve
Theranos , with Holmes at the helm, had claimed that it could run a slew of physiological tests with a simple pin-prick of blood. As part of the settlement, Ms Holmes had to return millions of shares to the privately held company and pay a $500,000 fine.

The BBC has announced that the new series kicks off 7 October. "Get everybody's homework done, sort out your Monday clothes, then grab some special Sunday night popcorn, and settle down with all of the family for Sunday night adventures across space and time". For months, all we've known is that the upcoming season starring new Doctor Jodie Whittaker would launch sometime in the fall. "The Thirteenth Doctor is falling from the sky and it's going to be a blast".

And if you're sitting there wondering when on Sundays Doctor Who will air, we didn't forget to include that info; they just haven't announced it yet!

The first season under the leadership of Chris Chibnall will see Whittaker's Doctor joined by new friends Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Graham (Bradley Walsh).
