Poll More Americans especially women oppose than support Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination amid sexual assault claims

The woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of assaulting her when they were both in high school, Christine Blasey Ford, has been negotiating the conditions under which she would testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee. I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!...

In fact, according to Department of Justice statistics, as of 2016 only 23 percent of rapes or sexual assaults were reported to the police. "There is zero chance that I would confuse them". You demanded that Judge Kavanaugh be the first person to testify.

She told the Post she remembered thinking, "I'm not ever telling anyone this". She reportedly mentioned the alleged attack to no one until years later, in counseling.

The Republicans know they can not be seen to vilify her. Democrats must be careful not to overtly politicise her. Kavanaugh has denied the allegations, as has his former classmate Mark Judge, who Ford claims was also in the room at the time of the alleged incident. She said she revealed the incident to her husband and therapist at a 2012 couple's therapy session.

Fellow Republican Susan Collins of ME said she hoped Prof Ford would "reconsider and testify" on Monday.

"I was appalled by the president's tweet", said Sen.

"I think we all can agree that @DonaldJTrumpJr is an uncaring, narrow-minded idiot", Walsh wrote on Twitter.

Committee Republicans are trying to secure a commitment from Ford to appear at a hearing on Monday.

As for a possible Federal Bureau of Investigation intervention, Mr Grassley said in his letter to Ford's lawyers, "We have no power to commandeer an Executive Branch agency into conducting our due diligence".

Yesterday Ford, through her lawyers, offered to appear next week - after a days-long standoff with committee Chairman Sen. That aide wasn't authorised to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

As a part of this, the contestants had to nominate one Jodi and one single contestant to go in the Kaalkothri as a punishment. After much discussion, inmates nominated Roshmi Banik and Kriti Verma from the couples and Dipika Kakar from singles.

You demanded that the number of rounds and minutes per round of questions be equal for all senators.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) is in charge of setting up such a hearing.

JOHN adds: All I can say is, thank God for Chuck Grassley.

Dr. Ford has stated that she's willing to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee if required, and while Republicans have cautiously said they want that to happen... they're also pressing to move forward with Kavanaugh's SCOTUS confirmation vote. "And we are, but our new poll shows that more than gender, party is the main driver of people's point of view about this fight, another sign of our highly tribal times". He told evangelical activists at the annual Values Voter conference the Senate will "plow right through".

Grassley declined an earlier request by Ford to have the FBI investigate her allegation against Kavanaugh. Kavanuagh has repeatedly denied the allegations.

In other early morning tweets from Las Vegas, Trump also contended that Kavanaugh is under assault by "radical left wing politicians" who aren't interested in finding the truth about the allegation but instead "just want to destroy and delay".

Amid allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh, those surveyed say by 40 percent to 31 percent that the Senate shouldn't vote to approve his nomination, the first time a plurality of Americans have opposed a Supreme Court nominee since polling on the issue began.

Kavanaugh was headed toward confirmation to the Supreme Court until Ford identified herself to The Washington Post, alleging that he steered her into a bedroom and tried to undress her when both were teenagers in suburban Maryland in the 1980s.

McConnell's comments are unhelpful to another key Republican senator in the process, one whose careful maneuvering of any hearing between Ford and Kavanaugh could make or break this delicate situation for Republicans. Trump continued, "let her testify, or not, and TAKE THE VOTE!" It wasn't until the media outed her that she chose to come forward.
