Donald Trump hints he may 'get rid of' Rod Rosenstein

President Donald Trump speaks during a campaign rally in Springfield Mo

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had only been on the job for a couple weeks last spring when he began suggesting that he secretly record President Trump and whip up support among Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment, the New York Times reports. However Sean Hannity, who has perhaps even more influence with the president than Ingraham or Pirro, said Trump should not do that.

The Times said Mr Rosenstein told Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials the secret recordings could be used to expose the chaos of the administration after revelations that Mr Trump had asked Mr Comey to pledge loyalty to him and also divulged classified information to Russians in the Oval Office.

The news was first reported by the New York Times.

Trump often brings up the Justice Department at his rallies.

Comey and McCabe, once close associates at the FBI, have provided wildly divergent accounts about who knew what when regarding a 2016 Wall Street Journal story on an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation. The bad ones, they're all gone.

As previously reported, after a storm of criticism, trump said that Russian Federation could intervene in elections.

But Trump, speaking at a rally in Springfield, Missouri, once again attacked his Justice Department. It all depends on whether you believe sources who talked to people who were in the room when Rod Rosenstein reportedly entertained notions of secretly taping the president or organising a constitutional manoeuvre to remove Mr Trump from office.

He also initiated discussions about invoking the 25th Amendment, which details how the Cabinet can decide whether a president is no longer able to discharge the duties of the office, one of the McCabe memos said.

Rosenstein has called The Times story "inaccurate and factually incorrect". A senior White House official warned against any dramatic action.

On Friday, however, Trump riled up lawmakers including Sen. "She won't vote for him".

None of Mr. Rosenstein's proposals apparently came to fruition. "It's going to happen". "We have to fight for him, not worry about the other side, and by the way, women are for that more than anybody would understand".

Trump also trashed the "Democrat party", saying he chooses the name over "Democratic Party" because "why should I make it sound so sweet?"

McCabe's colleagues allegedly concocted the ruse to bait President Donald Trump into firing Rosenstein ahead of November's midterm elections, the report noted.

Rosenstein assumed oversight of the federal investigation into Russia's election interference a year ago, after Sessions recused himself due to his own contacts with Russian officials during the campaign.

The report is explosive because Rosenstein appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Comey's firing also alarmed Justice Department officials, but they had an additional concern.

The White House did not immediately respond to the report, but Donald Trump Jr., suggested the report was evidence of an effort to compromise his father. Polls show the race is a toss-up.
