Melania who as a First Lady has previously only traveled overseas while accompanying her husband, announced she would embark on the trip starting October 1, 2018, to Kenyan, Ghana, Malawi and Egypt.

During the reception, Mrs Trump personally acknowledged her counterparts from the countries that she will be visiting in Africa-the First Ladies from Kenya, Ghana and Malawi, all of who were present.

"October 1 will mark the first day of my solo visit to four lovely and very different countries in Africa", she told a reception in NY on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly.

Her focus will be on children in line with her campaigns that she has been running in the US.

Her trip to Kenya comes a month after she hosted Kenya's First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at the White House in Washington DC.

The White House said the trip would take place in the first week of October, and focus on maternal and newborn care in hospitals, education for children, the culture and history of each country, and how the United States is supporting them on their journey to self-reliance.

Prior reports by TUKO.co.ke indicated the First Lady was on the receiving end for lauding the Beyond Zero campaign, an initiative of Kenya's First Lady Margret Kenyatta aimed at mitigating health challenges facing mothers and children in Kenya.

Mrs Trump revealed the four countries in her itinerary during a reception for United Nations General Assembly leader spouses in Manhattan Wednesday morning.
