Roger Federer beat Nick Kyrgios in straight sets

Roger Federer defeated Nick Kyrgios in straight sets, 6-4 6-1 7-5, to reach the US Open fourth round.

It was Federer's third win after 2017 Miami and 2018 Stuttgart semifinals over Kyrgios, who had prevailed over Roger in 2015 Madrid.

So the five-time U.S. Open champion could be tested in trying to reach the fourth round when he meets Kyrgios for the first time in a Grand Slam tournament.

While Federer is usually all business and Kyrgios the showman, the roles were reversed midway through the third set on Saturday when the Swiss produced a trick shot that left the Australian wide-eyed and open mouthed.

During the third set, the Swiss legend flicked a victor around the net posts after reading what seemed to be an inch ideal drop shot from Kyrgios that left him gobsmacked. "But it's Roger", smiled Kyrgios.

"No, it was nearly unreal. I am super happy he's got this far but now I will try to stop him".

United Nations ‘alarmed’ by studies of China’s mass detention of Uighurs
In the past, China has rejected allegations of subjecting Uighurs to torture and discrimination in Xinjiang. The U.S. lawmakers' letter called for "a tough, targeted, and global response ".

Kyrgios, on the other hand, is a ticking time bomb ready to go off at any moment, all power and furry one minute, disinterested clown the next.

Kyrgios, seeded 30th, came into the match on the back of controversy surrounding the intervention of umpire Mohamed Lahyani during his four-set victory over Pierre-Hugues Herbert but began in encouraging fashion racing through his opening few service games. Federer was among those critical of the umpire's conduct.

The match got off to a promising start with neither player able to gain an advantage. Federer broke Kyrgios to pocket the first set and leave the mercurial Aussie muttering in his chair.

It denied Kyrgios a game point, although the Aussie held to lead 4-3.

"Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out".

The third set was a more competitive affair but despite showing good determination to fight off two break points at 3-3 Kyrgios was unable to repeat the feat four games later as Federer broke before securing victory with an ace to take the acclaim from the NY crowd and his watching family. An ace on match point finished off the job.
