GOP pushing forward for Kavanaugh, accuser wants 'fairness'

While Dr. Ford's life was being turned upside down, you and your staff scheduled a public hearing for her to testify at the same table as Judge Kavanaugh in front of two dozen U.S. Senators on national television to relive this traumatic and harrowing incident. "I remain committed to defending my integrity", Kavanaugh wrote in the letter he signed on September 20. Despite Republican claims that investigations into these matters are the sole responsibility of the Senate, the FBI could open a more extensive investigation. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii held a news conference Thursday with alumnae from the Holton-Arms School. Republicans have addressed the allegation by setting a tentative hearing on Monday featuring testimony from Ford and the Supreme Court nominee.

"You have the entire force of the presidency and all of the supporters of Judge Kavanaugh in the Senate arrayed on one side and on this other side you have Dr. Ford who doesn't even have the benefit of an FBI investigation, as we all have called for", Sen.

New York Democratic Sen.

Ford said that Kavanaugh and his male friend, who were reportedly drunk, laughed.

Ford alleges that more than 30 years ago, when she and Kavanaugh were teenagers in high school, he sexually assaulted her at a party - holding her down, groping her, attempting to remove her clothes and putting his hand over her mouth when she tried to shout. She says they want a "he said, she said" scenario because men are usually believed.

"She has sided with Chuck Schumer every single time - for liberals and against Missouri", he added.

Demonstrators have congregated in a Senate office building to protest Republicans' handling of the sexual-assault accusation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) became aware of the alleged incidents weeks prior after receiving a letter from the alleged victim letter dated July 30.

Trump orders declassification, release of Comey texts
But Mueller was appointed by the Department of Justice and judges have ruled that his investigation is being conducted legally. The Justice Department says it's begun complying with the order, though it's not clear when the documents might be released .

Ford came forward with the allegation in an interview published in the Washington Post last Sunday.

Ford on Tuesday suggested in a letter from her legal team that she would be unwilling to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee until the FBI investigated the matter to ensure committee members are fully informed about the allegations.

The demonstrators chanted, "We believe Anita Hill!". Some told Grassley aides they themselves have been victims of harassment.

Thomas and Kavanaugh have denied the accusations against them.

Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley welcomed Prof Ford's offer.

"Dr. Ford has asked me to let you know that she appreciates the various options you have suggested", Katz wrote.

And I also emphasized that I wasn't there to tell her what to do, but, rather, if there was something that she wished me to do, that I would do everything to assist her.

It remains unclear whether Ford will attend or if the hearing will occur without her. Mark Judge, the person Ford said witnessed the attempted assault, has said he doesn't remember anything about it and doesn't want to testify before the committee.
