Great-grandma kills 12-foot alligator, says it ate her miniature horse

But the mayor of Livingston, population 5,200, wants folks to know she legally hunted the gator.

A miniature horse vanished a few years ago from Judy Cochran's cattle ranch in south-east Texas.

"One shot in the head and he went under".

"Polk County is one of 12 core counties that you can only kill a gator between September the 10th and September the 30th - only that 20 days", Ms Cochran told Fox 13.

Three years ago, her miniature horse disappeared and she was certain an alligator had eaten the animal, which was about the same size as a Labrador retriever.

"Typically the gators don't bother us, but we've been looking for (this one)", she said, according to The Houston Chronicle.

GOP Lawmakers Laud Trump's Order to Declassify FISA Docs
Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said in a statement Monday. Marie Harf added that Trump seems to be selective in the documents he'd like to be declassified.

The alligator, which measured in a 12 feet and 580 pounds, was taken to a local taxidermist.

Polk County is one of only 12 in Texas with an alligator hunting season, she said, and its limits gave her barely a 20-day window to take care of business, between September 10-30.

The gator was caught after being hooked using a seasoned raccoon as bait.

Being in a meeting at the time, she had to wait a bit before she could grab her Winchester.22 Magnum. "We'll have the hide tanned to make some boots out of it, you can only make boots from the belly", Cochran said.

This year was full of firsts for Cochran, according to KTRK-TV.

Judy Cochran, who became the mayor of Livingston, Texas, in May, killed the huge reptile at her ranch on Monday.
