Cavill, a massive fan of Sapkowski's series of fantasy short stories and novels about the witcher Geralt of Rivia, now stars opposite Tom Cruise in the hit Mission Impossible - Fallout which has earned over $649 million worldwide. Henry Cavill will be playing Geralt of Rivia.

Described as an "epic tale of fate and family", the streaming service's Witcher series follows Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary monster hunter who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. The series has also been adapted into a popular video game franchise as well as comic books and tabletop games.

The story will revolve around Geralt, a monster hunter that ends up intertwined with a powerful sorceress and a young princess, one with a unsafe secret.

#NewCoupleInTown? Ravi Shastri and Nimrat Kaur are dating, claims report
During his playing days, he was the poster boy of the Indian cricket and his performances were also being hailed. Shastri is now in the United Kingdom where the Indian team is playing a Test match against England .

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Netflix's Daredevil, The Defenders and The Umbrella Academy) commented on Cavill's hiring this morning, tweeting, "He was my first meeting". He shined in the criminally underseen The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and his terrific turn in this summer's Mission: Impossible - Fallout further showcased his range and versatility (he still hasn't been used to his full potential in the DCEU), so he's a swell choice to lead a TV series all his own. He is also known for his role as Superman in the DC Universe, having played the role in the film's "Man of Steel", "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", and "Justice League". Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko of Platige Image will executive produce as well. The Witcher has been granted an eight-episode straight-to-series order.

Netflix is aiming to release the first season sometime in 2020.
