But it's not just Samsung that Huawei is targeting; Microsoft could also be in the company's crosshairs with its folding smartphone. The company has reportedly been working with parts suppliers since early this year.

Chinese smartphone maker Huawei recently launched the world's first 7nm processor and now it seems that the company is planning to launch foldable smartphone within a year.

Huawei hopes its foldable Android smartphones will eventually make laptops obsolete, according to Richard Yu, Chief Executive Officer of the technology giant's consumer electronics business group. In riposte, Trump says JPMorgan’s Dimon lacks ‘smarts’ to be president
Dimon said yesterday that he is smarter and as tough as Trump, as well as being self-made rather than having inherited wealth. Hours later, Dimon walked his comments back: "I should not have said it".

One analyst said the commercial appeal of foldable displays was unclear. He said, "It nearly feels with foldable displays that technology companies are using this as something to highlight how innovative and technologically advanced they are. without really considering the nuts and bolts that would make it a commercial success".

"We will change that".

Though rumors and reports about foldable phones have always been circulating, the race to develop the first foldable phone effectively started when Samsung claimed in July that it had developed an unbreakable, bendable screen which has cleared safety testing in the U.S.
