Hurricane Florence looms over East Coast — WHAT’S HAPPENING

Time is running short to get out of the way of Hurricane Florence, a monster of a storm that has a region of more than 10 million people in its potentially devastating sights as it zeroes in on the Southeastern coast. Cloud cover that could encompass multiple states.

Anxious about how the government will respond to Hurricane Florence's devastation?

A massive hurricane is poised to make landfall this week and instead of the usual exodus of Floridians leaving the state for safety people from other states are making a beeline for here as they flee the storm.

In a series of tweets Wednesday morning, Trump said the government "got A Pluses" for storm recovery in Texas and Florida and "did an unappreciated great job in Puerto Rico". The Navy, Air Force and Army have been moving people, ships and aircrafts out of harm's way, though evacuations were not mandatory at bases such as Camp Lejeune.

- Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools has announced that they are canceling classes for Thursday and Friday as Hurricane Florence moves toward the coast. He says: "If Mama and Grandma are going, then a lot of people are leaving". Three other Southern raceways also opened campgrounds to evacuees. We are prepared considering what we went through two years ago. Home Depot and Lowe's activated emergency response centers to get generators, trash bags and bottled water to stores before and after the storm.

East Carolina opted not to travel for its scheduled game this Saturday at Virginia Tech. Virginia has moved its Saturday home game against OH to Nashville, Tennessee.
