Monster Hunter is up next on the video-game-to-film adaptation docket, even if production has been pushed from September to October.

Paul W.S. Anderson will undertake all production elements with his longtime producer team of Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer, who were with him for much of the Resident Evil experience.

Ron Perlman and T.I. Harris will join Milla Jovovich in the upcoming Monster Hunter film. Monster Hunter is Harris' second blockbuster role after co-starring in Marvel's Ant-Man franchise.

There are no official plot details for the Monster Hunter movie yet, but Anderson previously spoke at a high level about why he thinks the franchise is so appealing. Milla Jovovich will have the lead role of Artemis, presumably a member of Admiral's crew. The game series tasks players with tracking and hunting various monsters in order to accrue more powerful gear and take down bigger beasts.

Monster Hunter: World is available on Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The movie will begin shooting in South Africa next month. "What I love about Monster Hunter is the incredibly attractive, immersive world they've created", Anderson had said.

It's unclear whether Screen Gems is heading into Monster Hunter with the intent to start a cinematic universe, but the project will reportedly fall in the $60 million range.

Anderson and Jovovich's Resident Evil series earned over $1.2 billion across six movies and ten years. "There are no real central characters, so it's a bit like when we first approached Resident Evil and imposed our own characters and story on that world".
