Duterte's visit is the first by a Philippine president to Israel since the countries established diplomatic relations in 1957.

While in Jerusalem, Duterte will tour the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial, visit a monument erected to remember the actions taken by the Philippines during the Holocaust, and meet two Jews who were rescued by his country.

"My schedule will be full".

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte reviews an honour guard at the Manila International Airport in Pasay City, south of Manila, Philippines on Sunday. "There are. I'd be happy to slaughter them", he said.

In contrast to the warm official welcome, Israeli human rights activists plan to protest the visit and have encouraged President Reuven Rivlin not to meet him over accusations of rights abuses at home.

Before his departure from Manila, Duerte said he "looks forward to broader cooperation on a broad range of mutually important areas - defense and security, law enforcement, economic development, trade (and) investments and labor".

Duterte heads to Jordan on Sept 5, where he is expected to meet King Abdullah II.

"Of course, we will invite their business leaders to look at our own rich market potential", Duterte said. An estimated 28,000 Filipinos live in Israel, mostly as health aides.

Nicaragua to expel United Nations team after critical report
The report calls for the disarmament of masked civilians it says is responsible for the killings, torture and detentions. Guterres' spokeswoman said after the meeting that Nicaragua's path out of the crisis had to be "politically inclusive".

The rescue missions angered Kuwait as it viewed them as a violation of its sovereignty, ordering the arrest of 3 Filipino diplomats and detaining 4 drivers working for the Philippine embassy.

"The Philippines shares with all countries the desire for a stable and secure world", Duterte said.

Duterte on Sunday expressed support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The government officials who will join the President's trip include Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Labor Secretary Silvestre Belo III, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr., Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Special Assistant to the President Christopher "Bong" Go, Political Adviser Francis Tolentino, DILG officer-in-charge Eduardo Año, Sen.

The Palace earlier said that the Philippines may buy military equipment and weapons from Israel.

The US and Canada have both seen military hardware deals fall apart with the Philippines due to concerns over Mr Duterte's drug war.

"[The visit] is for President Duterte to look for an alternative market for. weapons for our armed forces, as well as for the police", Henelito Sevilla, an global relations expert at the University of the Philippines, told the AFP news agency.

Almost 60 percent of Israel's defense exports go to the Asia-Pacific region, according to Israeli defense ministry data. But so far deals with Israel have gone smoothly.
