Ayda Field breaks down in tears on X Factor

He sings an original song in his audition, leaving Ayda Field and Louis Tomlinson in tears over the parents they have lost.

"I've always been terrified of doing this show, but I was going through texts and my mum was always telling me "You need to do X Factor" and I always said no but reading the text I thought, I want to finally tick off something she's wanted me to do".

J-Sol impressed Simon with his voice, and no wonder, as he has written many of his own songs and even had a bit of a career as a singer. I'm glad that you came on the show'.

J-Sol tells the judges that it was one of his mum's wishes to see him go on The X Factor.

One Direction star Tomlinson, who lost his mum Johannah Deakin in 2016 following a battle with leukaemia, shed tears during his emotional performance and embraced J-Sol on stage afterwards.

Gaia took to Instagram ahead of the airing of the audition, excited to share her experience with the whole world: "Finally I can start sharing this incredible experience with you bit by bit. Well done, well done!"

A teary J-Sol then received praise across the board from the judges.

"J-Sol. Your voice, your soul, your passion".

Meanwhile, fellow judge Ayda Field revealed her father passed away suddenly at 68-years-old from a heart attack. "You're a legend for what you've just done", Tomlinson added. "I will never forget how the world swallowed me up on that day when I found out", a crying Field said.

Simon Cowell tells him: 'I understand how hard that would have been to perform that but you did.

Suffice to say, J-Sol received a resounding four yeses.

And it wasn't just the judges that were moved, as many viewers took to Twitter to share their appreciation of the touching tribute.

The X Factor continues at 8pm on Sunday on ITV.
