An unmanned Japanese space capsule is heading to the International Space Station with 5,500 kilograms (12,000 pounds) of cargo including food, experiments and new batteries.

A robotic Japanese resupply ship has launched toward the International Space Station (ISS), kicking off a five-day orbital chase. Liftoff of Japan's H-IIB rocket from the Tanegashima Space Center came at 2:52 a.m. JST Sept. 23 (10:52 a.m. PT Sept. 22).

The Kounotori 7 separated about 15 minutes later as planned.

Rod Rosenstein, who had been overseeing Russia probe, has offered to resign
Rosenstein would not be meeting in person on Monday with Trump, who is in NY attending the United Nations General Assembly. Trump left open the possibility of relieving Rosenstein of his duties in an interview with Geraldo Rivera.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd had repeatedly suspended the launch plan since Sept 11 due to bad weather and equipment trouble.

Developed and built in Japan, the Kounotori spacecraft, also known as H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV), has been used to deliver supplies to the space station. It is named Kounotori, which means white stork. The first of these cargo craft launched in September 2009, and the most recent previous mission, HTV-6, lifted off in December 2016. It will take four-and-a-half days to reach the space station. Let's see how much you know about the basics of this science laboratory in the sky.
