First Look: Joaquin Phoenix in Full Joker Makeup

The song from "The Guess Who" is a cool way to convey that the film will be a period piece, and Phoenix looks quite unhinged both pre and post-transformation. Now, Phillips has shared a camera test in which we get a look at Phoenix in full Joker makeup.

"This was only a screen test and even if they'll ended up using this looks, it'll probably be the first main act of the movie and not the final look", one Instagrammer wrote.

Growing in frequency, the lights turn into a faint projected image of Arthur in Joker makeup before completely replacing him with our first full look at director Todd Phillip's version of the iconic Batman villain. Up until now, we've only seen Joaquin Phoenix in his Arthur Fleck days both in set pictures and in a portrait released by Phillips himself. We're talking a blank-white face, a brick-red clown grin, a crimson button nose, eyebrows painted a few inches above his real ones, and mismatched blue triangles that frame his eyes here, guys.

The Joker standalone is set to hit theaters October 4, 2019. In addition to its leading man, Joker - which is being produced by Martin Scorsese - also stars Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, Frances Conroy and Zazie Beetz.
