Republicans pressing ahead with Kavanaugh nomination despite allegation

HBO host Bill Maher said Friday that while he thought Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was a "suck-up", he thought Democrats' latest attack on him was counterproductive. Dianne Feinstein's last-minute attempt to totally derail his confirmation hearings; categorically denying any accusations contained in the legislator's mysterious letter.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) plans to move forward with the vote after a woman wrote a letter to lawmakers alleging Kavanaugh held her down and tried to force himself on her during an alcohol-fueled high school party in the '80s, Politico reported.

Bush and more than 100,000 pages of documents that the Trump administration asked to withhold. Not until the eve of his confirmation has Sen. The aide also said Grassley only learned about the allegation from news sources this week and that the Federal Bureau of Investigation sent the Senate the updated report on Thursday.

Kavanaugh's nomination has divided the Senate, and the new information complicates the process, especially as key Republican senators, including Susan Collins of ME and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, are under enormous pressure from outside groups seeking to sway their votes on grounds that a Justice Kavanaugh might vote to undercut the Roe v. Wade ruling. The call was already scheduled before the allegation emerged and Collins' office declined to provide any details about their discussion.
