Kavanaugh sex assault allegations 'totally political:' Trump

The Senate Judiciary Committee continues to ask Christine Ford to present herself before them on Monday, and for the last few days, there's been a lot of commotion about whether she's being forced into it while she's still asking the FBI to investigate her claims.

"There's a chance that this could be one of the single most unfair, unjust things to happen to a candidate for anything, " Trump said.

But he also said that Professor Christine Blasey Ford, who is accusing Kavanaugh, should be heard, ahead of her expected testimony on Thursday.

Grassley had said that in the interest of making Ford comfortable, he'd be willing to let Ford testify in public or private.

'I know that's not what I wanted, even in that state of mind, ' she said. "Who is not asking the FBI to investigate these claims?"

A senior White House official said Kavanaugh and his wife also had received threats. Is that the reaction of an innocent person?

Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch says The New Yorker piece is a Democratic "smear campaign".

Ramirez says she was reluctant to come forward because the alleged incident was something she 'was embarrassed about, ' but eventually chose to share what she believes happened publicly following the accusations made by Christine Blasey Ford against the beleaguered Supreme Court nominee.

Ford has contended that at a house party in the 1980s, a drunken Kavanaugh tried undressing her and stifling her cries on a bed before she fled.

Farrow told ABC on Monday there are "several people in this story who back Ms. Ramirez". Mark Judge, the other classmate identified in the allegation, also denied the incident occurred.

3 World Series Contenders Nobody is Talking About
Despite being loaded on offense, the Cardinals have been inefficient in 2019 and rank near the bottom-10 in runs and home runs. Louis has title-winning pedigree and are loaded offensively, but thus far simply haven’t delivered consistent results.

Kavanaugh is President Trump's choice to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court created by Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement. Kavanaugh said he "categorically and unequivocally" denies the allegation, which he called "completely false". "Hopefully, we'll have a second judge very shortly who is a fantastic, fantastic man, a fantastic talent and intellect, hopefully Brett Kavanaugh will go on to the Supreme Court" Trump said on WTAM radio in an interview with Geraldo Rivera.

The biggest concerns raised by Ford's lawyer on the call were her safety and the Monday hearing date, according to one source with knowledge of the call.

Prof Ford and the Senate Judiciary Committee are engaged in a stand-off, and time is running out, the BBC's Gary O'Donoghue reports from Washington. She asserted that Republicans are rushing to confirm Kavanaugh because the court's "session is going to start in October and the President wants his guy there to, he hopes, help him evade criminal or civil proceedings".

Judge said in a statement to the committee via an attorney that he had "no memory of this alleged incident" and did "not want to speak publicly regarding the incidents described in Dr. Ford's letter".

The classmate independently recalled numerous same details Ramirez told The New Yorker about the incident. He says the Judiciary Committee should hear from Ford and "then we should vote".

According to a report in The New Yorker, Ramirez has alleged that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her while at a college party at Yale University in CT. He was at the White House on Thursday for the fourth consecutive day, as he prepares for possible testimony.

Sources familiar with the call said Ford's legal team laid out some of its stipulations for testifying before the committee. After indicating earlier this week that she would appear before lawmakers, Ford wants other witnesses - not just Ford and Kavanaugh - to participate and wants the Federal Bureau of Investigation to reopen its background check of Kavanaugh.

'I'm confident about the trousers coming up and I'm confident about Brett being there, ' Ramirez said.

Kavanaugh staunchly denies both accusations. In the poll, conducted from September 11-17, 36 percent of USA adults surveyed did not want Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, up 6 percentage points from a similar poll a month earlier, while 31 percent favored Kavanaugh's appointment.
