Kenan Thompson in 'Saving Larry' - NBC Comedy Series in Development

Saturday Night Live veteran Kenan Thompson might get his very own show on NBC. Deadline reports that NBC has committed to producing a pilot for a comedy called Saving Larry that would star the SNL fixture as a single father.

Saving Larry centers on a dad (Thompson) who has to play the roles of mother and father to his kids after his wife passes away - and he'll have to do it under the watchful eye of his father-in-law.

As Full House and Fuller House both proved, there's no better setup for a sitcom than a dead spouse.

Thompson is now SNL's longest running cast member, so if he does make the leap he'll be ending a 16 season run on the show. He is expected to leave SNL if Saving Larry gets picked up to series.

Massive 1,000ft spider web appeared overnight in Greece
As reported by Daily Hellas, a broad area of greenery has been cloaked by the silvery spider-web produced by Tetragnatha spiders. Photographs published online show the almost 1,000-foot web stretching across a beach, according to the Greek site NewsIt .

Thompson just won an Emmy this year alongside SNL co-star Chris Redd and series writers Will Stephen and Eli Brueggemann for original music and lyrics for their song "Come Back Barack", and he can be seen in the upcoming Illumination adaptation of the classic Dr. Seuss story, The Grinch, which hits theaters on November 9. He also scored a 2018 Emmy nomination in the Supporting Actor in a Comedy category for his work in Season 43.

Saving Larry would mark Thompson's return to comedy series, where he first rose to fame on Nickelodeon with All That and its spinoff Kenan & Kel.

SNL once again broke its record for most overall Primetime Emmy wins this year, adding eight more statuettes to its tally, including Variety Sketch series.
