Markovic is wanted by Greek side PAOK but the £20million Serbia worldwide has also been discussing potential moves to either Standard Liege or Anderlecht.

After over three years without a competitive appearance for Liverpool, Markovic looked as though he would seal a long-awaited permanent departure on Europe's transfer deadline day yesterday.

PAOK have reportedly won the race to secure the loan signing of Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic.

Liverpool will receive 50% of any fee that Anderlecht receive if they sell the player in the future.

The Liverpool winger has struggled to establish himself at Anfield.

The 27-year-old is expected to play in the Rams' season opener against the Raiders on September 10, according to Schefter. He has made the Pro Bowl in all four of his seasons and has been named a first team All-Pro in each of the past three.

The 24-year-old has not featured in the plans of Jurgen Klopp for some time, and four loan spells have been spent away from Anfield since 2015.

Markovic was signed for £20m from Benfica in 2014.

Arguably the most successful of those stints came at Hull City, where he scored a pair of goals in 12 Premier League games in the second half of the 2016-17 season.

Markovic also spent time at Fenerbahce and Sporting before his January 2018 loan to Anderlecht, where he scored once in eight appearances for the club.

Liverpool return to action today with a trip to Leicester City at 12.30pm as they look to go into the worldwide break off of four successive victories to start a season in which they hope to contend for the league title.
