Manchester City have become only the second English club in history to surpass £500 million in annual revenues. A rise in City's commercial income accounted for most of the £27m increase in turnover, as City have extended their sponsorship arrangements beyond Etihad and the other Abu Dhabi and United Arab Emirates sponsors which were the basis of their commercial operations in the first years of Mansour's ownership.

The earnings figure was a ten fold increase on last year's £1m, although that was reported over a 13-month period as the club adjusted its results cycle to a July 1 to June 30 year, adversely impacting profit.

"We recognise that the sporting challenge continues".

"Our aim is obviously to build on the achievements of the past year", Al Mubarak, City's chairman since the club was bought by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, said in a statement. "Consistent domestic success and further development in the Champions League will be our focus in 2018-19 and the seasons to come".

Mr Al Mubarak added: "Our aim is obviously to build on the achievements of the previous year".

Al Mubarak said: "Our journey is not complete and we have more targets to fulfil".

"I've always said that I would like to play for Las Palmas, but we'll see how things are in two years".

Since venturing over to England back in 2010, David Silva has not only cemented himself as a Manchester City legend, but transformed into one of the Premier League's all-time great foreign inputs. At the time, it made them the 20th highest revenue earner in the world and seventh in the Premier League behind United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle.
