Terry left Stamford Bridge after 22 years' service in June 2017.

The former Chelsea captain's future has been the subject of much speculation, after he nearly joined Russian side Spartak Moscow before deciding against it at the last minute.

Maurizio Sarri has claimed he does not see Chelsea challenging for the Premier League title in his debut season in charge, adding that Manchester City and Liverpool are now the main title contenders.

"We play against a very physical team, if we want to gain points we need a very good performance tomorrow".

"I am open to the idea [of him returning], of course".

Terry left Chelsea in 2017 after almost 20 years at the club, where he won five Premier League titles. "Maybe it's better for him to have two days of training", Sarri said.

The 59-year-old Sarri says "unfortunately at the moment I am not able to stop".

"I think that is one of the most important things in life; when you love to do something, when you're happy. We need another step to be at the same level", said the Blues head coach.

Chelsea could welcome Cesc Fabregas back in to the squad after he recovered from a knee injury that's hampered him since the Community Shield but a place on the bench is the best he can hope for as he's not deemed fit to start just yet. "Mentally after the (international) break it is hard", said the 59-year-old Italian.

The Blues who have won 4 games on the bounce are getting ready for a weekend for a game against winless Cardiff who lost 3-2 to Arsenal last time around and it is expected that Chelsea will run out winners in the game making it 5 wins.

"If he wants to play for another season I think it's right he tries to play".
