There have never been as many and as competent hot hatchbacks as in the last few years and the A35 will have its work cut out in making a mark for itself against rivals which cover everything from the Hyundai i30 N up to the Audi S3.

AMG's first offering for the new A-Class has been revealed in the form of the Mercedes-AMG A 35. Power goes to all four-wheel using an AMG Speedshift DCT 7G dual clutch transmission.

Mercedes says the A35 will be able to dash from standstill to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. The discs are internally ventilated and perforated, too.

The electro-mechanical steering uses variable assistance and a more rigid mounting than the system used by other new A-class models.

Looking like a sportier take on the AMG Line variant, the A35 is distinguished by a unique single bar grille that features a mesh insert.

Maroon 5 Performing At 2019 Super Bowl
While nothing has yet been confirmed, US Weekly notes that the Super Bowl Halftime show has always been an ambition of Maroon 5 . Levine was a guest on Kanye West's "Heard 'Em Say" many years ago, so there's at least one great song that they could perform.

Those tailpipes are connected to an AMG exhaust system with an automatically-controlled flap modulating the sound from "balanced to powerful" depending on drive mode. Each program has its own characteristics for engine and transmission response.

Passive dampers are standard, though buyers can option the new entry-level AMG model with an adaptive damping system that provides three different levels of stiffness. Suspension-wise, you'll find a four-link setup at the back, while at the front there are MacPherson struts with a geometry bespoke to the A35.

Opting for the red interior accents also gets you red piping on the microfibre cabin trim element and a red ring for the air vent nozzles. This shade has never really been associated with AMG cars before this and highlight's the A35's more youthful appeal.

Mercedes-AMG will debut the A35 at the Paris motor show from October 2, ahead of a European market launch in January 2019.

Some features include lap and sector times, and the system can display maps for certain major race tracks - think the Nurburgring or Spa Francorchamps.
