Merkley: Ford receiving 'worse treatment than Anita Hill got'

Ford accused Kavanaugh of assaulting her at a high school party in 1982.

In an attempt to draw a comparison between the accusations against Justice Clarence Thomas by Anita Hill and those against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh by Christine Blasey Ford, 1,600 men purchased a full-page advertisement in The New York Times proclaiming that they believe accusers. In hearings that lasted for three days, the committee heard testimony from more than a dozen outside witnesses. The title of her talk was "The Past, Present and Future of the #Metoo Movement".

"You know I have to say it", Hill said as she received cheers from the audience.

As Hill spoke in Houston, a key Republican, Sen. Now, some are suggesting that her apparel choice was a nod to one survivor in particular: Anita Hill, who sat before the Senate in a similar position almost 27 years ago.

Hill discussed the events leading up to her testimony in 1991 and went on to condemn not just harassment in the workplace, but also at universities.

Three other men have been indicted for the alleged roles in the shooting and are also in pre-trial proceedings. The video then shows two armed men approach the 20-year-old's BMW while he was stopped at a traffic light.

"It is not my responsibility to determine whether Mr. Kavanaugh deserves to sit on the Supreme Court".

"It can not be fair and thorough", Hill said during an interview with NPR's "All Things Considered" published Tuesday.

"I also witnessed efforts by Mark Judge, Brett Kavanaugh and others to cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could then be "gang-raped" in a side room or bedroom by a "train" of numerous boys", Swetnick wrote in a sworn affidavit to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Julie Swetnick alleged that Kavanaugh was involved in gang rapes in his adolescence and claimed that she attended more than 10 high school parties during which Kavanaugh and his friends allegedly drank heavily and acted inappropriately. Kavanaugh forcefully denied the allegations and accused Democrats of trying to smear him.

"My motivation in coming forward was to provide the facts about how Mr. Kavanaugh's actions have damaged my life, so that you can take that into serious consideration as you make your decision about how to proceed", Ford said.

"I don't think we should put up with it, to be honest with you", he added.
