The planned adaptations include Clancy's 1993 novel Without Remorse, showing Clark's origins in the Central Intelligence Agency while combating street criminals on the streets of Baltimore, and 1998's Rainbox Six which has Clark lead a team of special forces soldiers in counterterrorism missions around the world.

Paramount Pictures has tapped Michael B. Jordan to play Clancy hero John Clark in a new film series, Variety has learned.

Amazon's Jack Ryan series - with The Office star John Krasinski in the title role - was enjoyable. The character first showed up in Clancy's novels (17 of them in total) and has already appeared in multiple Jack Ryan movies already, portrayed first by Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and later by Liev Schreiber in The Sum of All Fears.

The news of more Tom Clancy adaptations comes on the heels of a successful TV outing based on the popular author's works.

The Universe Needs Fixing in the Explosive New Doctor Who Trailer
"I'm the Doctor", she says in the new trailer, who shows her waving a new version of her character's iconic sonic screwdriver. The footage promises plenty of action, explosions and exploration, all hallmarks of the franchise.

The film's producers are Akiva Goldsman (Transformers), Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. No creative team has been announced as of yet, but Paramount is now meeting with writers and directors for Without Remorse. Beginning with The Cardinal of the Kremlin in 1998, the former Navy Seal turned Central Intelligence Agency operative would often assist Jack "I'm just an analyst" Ryan on his many covert missions. Clark was largely used as a supporting character to Jack Ryan, until he was given his own adventure in "Without Remorse".

The Clark projects mark Jordan's second film series, along with "Creed", that isn't comic book-related - an impressive feat for any movie star today. Costner's character was initially meant to star in multiple films in the Jack Ryan universe, recruiting Ryan in Shadow Recruit and John Clark in Without Remorse, but since Shadow Recruit underperformed and failed to kickstart a new cinematic universe, it's unclear at this time if Costner will appear in this new iteration of the movie alongside Jordan. Paramount had previously tried to get a Rainbow Six franchise into production, with Ryan Reynolds and Christopher McQuarrie previously attached to star and direct, respectively.

If you remove Goldsman from the equation, you have an exciting prospect for a franchise.
