It seems Microsoft is embracing the month and year format for naming its major updates to Windows 10, which the company has committed to releasing twice a year.

Microsoft just announced that the next update to Windows is coming in October, packed with new features for more than 700 million Windows users. Formerly codenamed "Redstone 5", the Windows 10 October 2018 update will be with us in a few weeks time, with Windows Insiders already testing out the final build.

Trump to Federal Employees: No Pay Raises for You!
In contrast to civilian employees, troops are due for a 2.6 percent pay increase next year . Scrapping the raises will save more than $ 25 billion , Trump said .

Microsoft said the new version of its OS will "bring new features and enhancements", though we don't yet know much about those changes. Beyond that, further improvements will be made to the Edge browser and performance stats will be added to the Xbox Game Bar. It's been quite some time since this number was officially updated.

The name is no surprise given that it was expected to begin its rollout in October, and its predecessor was the April 2018 Update released in April. Pending no major compatibility issues and based on feedback, other PCs will get updated eventually.
