A law enforcement official told The Associated Press at least three people were killed in the shooting, though the official stressed the number was based on preliminary information.

Mike Carre, who works for another company in the same business park and helped a gunshot victim with his wounds, said Rite Aid employees told him the shooter was "a nice person".

Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler named the shooting suspect as 26-year-old Snochia Moseley from Baltimore County. Police have confirmed that the shooter has not yet been taken into custody and are asking for those who live around Perryman, Maryland, to avoid the area.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are at the scene and an FBI team is on the way, law enforcement sources said.

Harford County Sheriff's Office later said the suspected lone shooter was in critical condition in hospital.

Thursday's attack came five months after an Iran-born female animal rights activist gunned down three people before killing herself at YouTube's California headquarters. The facility packages pharmaceuticals and other products for delivery to more than 2,500 stores.

At least three fatalities have been reported, after a shooting broke out at a Maryland-based Rite Aid facility on September 20.

Then, around 2 p.m., in Masontown, Pa., about 50 miles south of Pittsburgh, a man who was scheduled for a hearing on domestic violence charges opened fire just outside a judge's office, police said. And now, a distribution center in Aberdeen.

Susan Henderson, spokesman for the drugstore chain Rite Aid, described the warehouse as a support facility adjacent to a larger building.

The shooting in Maryland was the third shooting across the country with multiple victims in less than 24 hours.

Businesses and roads in the area are closed.

"We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting in Aberdeen", Hogan wrote. "The State stands ready to offer any support".
