Kenyan police apologised on Thursday for briefly arresting journalists from Chinese state television's worldwide English channel China Global Television Network (CGTN).

Liu Jiaqi was placed under arrest.

The Chinese national says that all Kenyans, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, are like monkeys. Top officials have been arrested on corruption charges, the Chinese railway operator has been accused of racism and mistreatment of local workers, and critics have anxious about Kenya's ballooning debt to China. His rant was apparently recorded by an employee of his whom was about to be fired - the reason for which remains unknown, the BBC reported on Thursday. He went ballistic saying he hates Kenya because "it smells bad and poor".

"The Chinese Embassy always requires the Chinese companies and individuals to abide by the local law, stay and work legally in Kenya, making positive contribution to the friendship and cooperation between China and Kenya", stated the embassy spokesperson.

The Chinese Embassy swiftly responded distancing itself from Jiaqi's offensive remarks noting that the utterances made by their national did not represent that of China's vast majority adding that he had already been punished by his employer.

Burt Reynolds: Hollywood star dies, 82
He was also cast in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood , which is now filming. TMZ is reporting famous Hollywood actor Burt Reynolds has died at 82.

The comments by Jiaqi were seen as a mockery of President Uhuru's visit to China to enhance trading between the two nations.

"The raid on the Chinese state-owned broadcaster was based on false information", Charles Owino, Kenya's national police spokesman told Reuters.

However, the government dismissed allegations of racism on the $3.2 billion (2.8 billion euro) signature infrastructure project.

News of Mr Liu's potential deportation came a day after police in Nairobi raided the African headquarters of China Global Television Network (CGTN) as part of a crackdown on illegal immigrants.
