As we've already seen from the teaser, the film is set in the 80s - with a sweeter, gentler Iron Giant vibe replacing Bay's usual bombast.

The global trailer was released with the domestic trailer earlier today.

Bumblebee will arrive neatly wrapped in United Kingdom cinemas on Boxing Day this year - and stay tuned to Empire for a trailer breakdown from Travis Knight himself.

The synopsis of the film reads, "On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town".

Most notably, director Travis Knight is at the helm.

The film also stars actors John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Gracie Dzienny, Rachel Crow and Pamela Adlon. His human ally is a teenage mechanic named Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld) who unknowingly invites Bumblebee into her home when she gets an old VW Beetle to restore. The studio convened a writers' room to brainstorm ideas for the Transformers cinematic universe.

Pandora acquired by SiriusXM in $3.5bn deal
Notably, Pandora invested a lot of time and money in developing its advertising business and setting up regional offices. The satellite radio company on Monday announced plans to acquire streaming music company Pandora for $3.5 billion.

The film is produced by Transformers franchise veterans Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Michael Bay, along with executive producers Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, and Mark Vahradian.

It remains to be seen whether the film can successfully balance the more low-key character elements that this prequel-reboot is promising alongside the big robo-smashing action the Transformers films are known for.
