Nike-Branded Clothes Destroyed On Social Media Over Colin Kaepernick Ad Campaign

Nike announced former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will be a part of its new ad campaign

Nike announced former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will be a part of its new ad campaign

Former CIA chief John Brennan came out with some gushing words of praise for National Football League anthem-kneeler Colin Kaepernick, saying the newly minted face of Nike actually gave "meaning" to America's Constitution with his on-field shows and protests.

Nike decided to make Kaepernick the face of its 30th anniversary campaign for their famous "Just Do It" slogan.

"Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything", the ad reads, scrawled over a close-up on Kaepernick's face.

Other players followed suit, leading to criticism from President Donald Trump.

Nike's decision has been heavily criticized by some customers who posted videos to social media of them burning and cutting up their Nike attire. "Then @Nike forces me to choose between my favorite shoes and my country. Since when did the American Flag and the National Anthem become offensive?"

Nike has also signed a number of progressive athletes to its roster, including LeBron James, who was denounced by the president on Twitter last month after the National Basketball Association star spoke critically of his politics.

Celtic apologise to fans after crush at Old Firm match
The incident happened about 20 minutes before the 12:00 kick-off as Celtic supporters tried to make their way into the stadium. He said: "This is a very frightening situation.

Still, there were a large number of other users who responded positively to Nike taking a stand on social issues.

Critics have burned Nike trainers and clothing in protest at Colin Kaepernick's appointment as the face of the brand's new advertising campaign.

With the new NFL season approaching, Ahmadinejad tweeted his disappointment that "one of the best quarterbacks in the league" would not be part of the action. "It's not a move that any company can make, but for Nike it's definitely smart business", Dorfman said. "Old angry white guys are not a core demographic for Nike".

However, according to the New York Times, that deal was set to expire soon had Nike not chosen to extend the contract. There's a #grabyourwallet movement on the left urging consumers to boycott Trump-affiliated companies and others.

Critics of Kaepernick, who have framed his protest as unpatriotic and disrespectful to the U.S. military, took to Twitter to hit out at the Nike deal.
