Little has been revealed about the new show, except that it's said to "follow the next chapter of Picard's life".

The fan-favorite actor tweeted a picture of himself with the planned series' writers and producers this morning including longtime Star Trek fan Akiva Goldsman who helped produce the first season of Star Trek: Discovery and wrote an episode for the season. You can check out the photo below that Stewart shared, which includes writers Kirsten Beyer (Star Trek: Discovery), Michael Chabon (John Carter), Oscar victor Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind), Diandra Pendleton-Thompson (Lucky Night), and Emmy nominee James Duff (Major Crimes). Also executive producing are Heather Kadin of Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment President Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry, son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, and Roddenberry Entertainment COO Trevor Roth. Given that this is on CBS All Access, should there be any connection between this series and Discovery? "For over 20 years, fans have hoped for the return of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and that day is finally here. Seeking out a new life for him, when I thought that life was over". "I look forward to working with our brilliant creative team as we endeavor to bring a fresh, unexpected and pertinent story to life once more".
