The invite itself (via Droid Life) has an Razer Phone-like outline, which may indicate that the overall design for the Razer Phone 2 will not be a radical departure from the first phone. While we wait for the official unveiling to take place later this year, we have got our hands on a leaked render.

Further support for the idea that this event will be the premiere of the Razer Phone 2 comes by way of a leaked render, surfacing earlier this week.

Then again, the Razer Phone was always a niche device - some people might value good audio on the go over a very big display, and the original did manage to pack in a class-leading 4,000 mAh battery thanks to its chunky frame. Speaking of which, both grills once again boast the same pattern of holes and the top one features the same sensor arrangement. The circular volume buttons seem more visible now and have a glossier look.

We're yet to hear any news on a Razer Phone 2 release date, but seeing as its predecessor arrived in November previous year we expect the new handset to land in the same month this time around. Who knows? Maybe Razer has a surprise waiting for us next month.
