Ronaldo available for Man United games after one-game ban

VAR will be used in the Champions League from next season

VAR will be used in the Champions League from next season

The Juventus forward was dismissed following a tussle with Valencia's Jeison Murillo where he appeared to put his hand on the centre-back's head.

A statement from UEFA on Thursday confirmed that Ronaldo will miss just one Champions League game as a result of his suspension in the Valencia encounter.

Juventus plucked a 2-0 victory from the Mestalla in their opening day of the 2018-19 Champions League campaign, but they did so without the assistance of Ronaldo after the 29th minute.

The Portugal skipper left the pitch in tears, clearly astonished at the official's decision, and Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri later insisted VAR - which is not being used in the Champions League this season - might have led to a different decision.

A Star Is Born , which marks Cooper's directorial debut, premieres October 5, the same day the soundtrack is due. Wow, it's insane how the best song of 2018 is arriving at the end of September. "We're far from the shallow now".

Five-time Champions League victor Ronaldo - who joined Juve from Real Madrid for £99.2m in the summer - tried to latch onto a cross when he was blocked off by a tumbling Murillo.

While Champions League will get the luxury of VAR from the 2019-20 season, the Europa League will only get the technology in the 2020-21 season followed by the 2021 Nations League finals.

The UEFA Executive Committee met this morning at the House of European Football in Nyon and chose to introduce Video Assistant Referees (VAR) in the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League, as of the play-off stage of the competition (August 2019).

The English Premier League, like UEFA, has resisted in favour of further testing but is expected to approve its use from next season.
