Russia: Missile That Shot Down Flight MH17 Was Ukrainian

Russia Declassifies Data on Missile That Downed MH17 Flight in 2014

Russian Federation has said that the missile which shot down the aircraft belonged to Ukraine.

Russia's defence ministry claimed on Monday that the missile that shot down flight MH17 in July 2014, killing all 298 people on board, had been produced in 1986 and was owned by Ukrainian authorities.

The passenger jet was shot down by a Soviet-made missile over rebel-held eastern Ukraine in July 2014, killing all 298 people aboard.

The tragedy caused an global outcry and deepened tensions between Moscow and the West following Russia's seizure of Crimea and support for the militants in their fight against Kyiv's forces after pro-European protests pushed Moscow-friendly Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych from power.

Lieutenant General Nikolai Parshin, chief of the Missile and Artillery Directorate at the Russian Defence Ministry, speaks to the media in Moscow.

Russian Federation has vehemently denied involvement.

The ministry of defence also dismissed as fabricated videos that a Dutch-led global investigation used as evidence that the missile system had been transported from Russian Federation to the rebel-held region of Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine. Gen. Igor Konashenkov conceded that Russian Federation does not have any documents proving otherwise but pointed to the statements of Ukrainian officials who have denied that separatists seized any of their Buks.

The Dutch-led Joint Investigative Team (JIT) also found that the Buk missile came from Russia's 53rd Antiaircraft Missile Brigade and was sacked from territory held by the Russia-backed separatists.

Carson Wentz will start in Week 3 vs. the Colts
Wentz's original goal was to be ready for the season opener September 6th against Atlanta, but had not been cleared for contact. In two games, the Eagles have gone 1-1 and averaged just 322 yards of offense after averaging 365.8 yards per game last season.

The Dutch-led investigation of the crash said it would study the information.

The Dutch-led Joint Investigation Team said Monday that it had made a request for information on serial numbers on missile components in May 2018.

On the day that MH17 crashed, a rebel commander posted that his troops had shot down a Ukrainian military plane.

He said Unit 20152 is now the Ukranian Armed Forces' 223rd Anti-Aircraft Defense Regiment, which took part in the crackdown on rebels in Eastern Ukraine in June 2014.

"The evidence disproves the accusations by Ukraine and some other parties that claimed a missile fired by a launcher, secretly delivered from Russian Federation, was responsible for the downing of MH17, the ministry of defence report said", RT.com wrote.

According to the report, the Russian military claimed the complaints came from one Col Ruslan Grinchak, who supposedly serves in a brigade responsible for radar control of the Ukrainian airspace.

Oleksandr Turchynov, the head of Ukraine's National Security Council, told Interfax-Ukraine that the Russian Defense Ministry press conference was "another unsuccessful Kremlin fake".
