Kaepernick and Reid have both made headlines for refusing to stand up during the national anthem at games, famously taking a knee instead as a way to highlight violence against black communities.

He's now embroiled in a lawsuit against National Football League owners for collusion.

Tennis ace Serena Williams warmly praised Colin Kaepernick and his former San Francisco 49ers teammate Eric Reid on Friday, saying "every athlete, every human" should to be grateful to them for protesting for "the greater good". "I don't really try to look too much what's going on".

"They really use their platform in ways that is really unfathomable", she continued.

'I feel like they obviously have great respect from a lot of their peers, especially other athletes, people that really are looking for social change'.

The news of Foles starting comes a day after John Clark of NBC 10 cornered the surgeon who repaired Wentz's knee, Dr. Jim Bradley, for some revealing on-the-record comments. "I certainly commend him on that".

Interestingly, Williams' poignant comments came just a week after Tiger Woods steered clear of being drawn into any sort of conversation about race when he was asked by a reporter at the Northern Trust about how he felt about President Trump's treatment of minorities.

We are hoping for a huge win for Reid and Kaepernick, which would expose racism in the NFL. Lani lost it when Serena surprised her after the match! "Thank you so much Serena!"

In an interview with Time Magazine this month, Serena spoke out in support of Kaepernick who hasn't played in the NFL since end of the 2016 season, the same year he began kneeling during the national anthem in protest of racial inequality.

An arbitrator ruled this week that Kaepernick's collusion case against the NFL can proceed in a blow for the league that had sought to have the case dismissed.

The meeting between the famed tennis siblings, also attended by celebrities including singer Joe Jonas and his fiancee Sophie Turner, had been hyped as the biggest night of the U.S. Open but turned into a flat spectacle as Serena simply outclassed her sister.
