Star Wars Films Were "Too Much, Too Fast" Says Disney CEO

"Solo A Star Wars Story. Disney

However, it appears due to the poor box office reception of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Disney will be rolling out the films in a slower fashion.

"I would say there is a blend of my helping to make the decision to my supporting the decisions that have been made".

He added "that doesn't mean we're not going to make films ..." [Abrams] is busy making [Episode] IX. "We have creative entities, including [Game of Thrones creators David] Benioff and [D.B.] Weiss, who are developing sagas of their own, which we haven't been specific about", said Iger. "And the buck stops here on that".

Han Solo's jacket, worn by Harrison Ford in the Star Wars film "The Empire Strikes Back", could fetch over a million dollars when it hits the auction block Thursday. One person, however, who's been silent on the matter is the person who made the decision - Disney's overlord and CEO Bob Iger.

The moon travelers will be carried around the moon in a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, which is also still in development. You have to set some kind of date that's the "things go right" date. "There is a chance something could go wrong".

Star Wars fans learned today that their beloved galaxy is going to star far, far away for a little while longer.

An employee poses with a Stormtrooper helmet from the 2017 film Star Wars: The last Jedi, on display at the IMAX ahead of being auctioned later this month in London, Britain, September 6, 2018.

Timing and details of those projects hasn't been confirmed, and its still possible some may not actually happen, especially after the struggles of Solo led to a reevaluation of standalone films. In fact, if you look at the release dates of Marvel Studios' Phase One films, they actually began with two films in one year with Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. And Lucasfilm animation guru Dave Filoni is releasing the anime-inspired Star Wars: Resistance series on The Disney Channel on October 7.

Director Jon Favreau is also working on a Star Wars series that will be set a few years after Return of the Jedi. The overload started with Rogue One at the end of 2016 but reached its peak with the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story in May of this year. Disney's new streaming service has just ordered some new Marvel Cinematic Universe shows for the platform, which could very well send the MCU into the Star Wars territory of fatigue. In the meantime, you can read the rest of the interview with Bob Iger at The Hollywood Reporter.
