There is also a chance that the weather could bring power cuts and some roads and bridges are expected to close.

Things get pretty interesting as we move out of Sunday into Monday.

The Met Office has claimed Helene, which is now making its way through the Atlantic, could bring temperatures as high as 26C in the London area, while reaching only 6C in Scotland.

"There is definitely something happening on Monday night, it will be very wet and windy, but we are not expecting hurricane status conditions,"a Met Eireann spokesperson told Independent.ie this morning".

FORECASTERS have sent out a warning to all those in the path of Storm Helene, which is expected to pass over the North West.

There may be some warm tropical air accompanying the storm, causing temperatures to rise to mid 20 degrees Celsius. Nearly quite a bonkers set up into the early half of next week.

He said much will depend on when, where and how fast it hits ground. "I was in the same house and it stood fine". Kevin Miller, a 50-year-old electrician, said he planned to ride out the storm at his home near Charleston.

Hurricane Helene is travelling through the Atlantic at the moment and once she gets here, she'll have enough rain and wind for everyone. "Helene is weakening however and should continue to do so as it crosses the cooler waters of the North Atlantic before impacting Ireland through next Monday/Tuesday", he said.

Residents are being urged to stay safe as the risky weather could pose a danger to life with flying debris.

The current forecast is that "Storm Helene" or "ex-Tropical Storm Helene" will be to the south of Ireland on Monday night (September 17).

On Friday morning, the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for western parts of the United Kingdom from 18.00 on Monday 17 September until midday on Tuesday, but the warning could be upgraded to red over the weekend.

It is not yet known what direction the storm will take however forecasters are warning that there will be very strong winds of around 55 to 65mph with the potential for gusts of 70 to 80mph in exposed areas.
