First ‘Apostle’ Trailer Reveals ‘The Raid’ Director’s Bloody, Dark Netflix Thriller

Starring Dan Stevens (who's still sporting some residual Legion weirdness), Evans seems to have left all of the action movie trappings of his Raid pictures behind, opting instead for a big, bold, earthy horror vision. Evans enters incredibly different territory here, as Apostle is set in 1905 and stars Dan Stevens as Thomas Richardson, a man who travels to a secluded, idyllic island where his sister is being held for ransom by a religious cult.

The Apostle trailer has arrived, depicting Dan Stevens investigating a colossal cauldron of insane in the form of an island-isolated religious cult who's holding his sister for ransom. As Thomas begins to infiltrate their ranks, he learns that the cult itself is a nest of corruption and that there may be something even more secret and evil behind it. At the helm is Welsh director Gareth Evans, best known for his directorial work on the "Safe Haven" clip in the 2013 thriller V/H/S/2 and The Raid action movie series.

Apostle has its world premiere at Fantastic Fest and will stream globall on Netflix on October 12.

The very first bit of promotional imagery for Apostle has arrived in the form of the film's first poster. The film also stars Lucy Boynton, Mark Lewis Jones, Bill Milner, Kristine Froseth, and Paul Higgins.
