Tropical disturbance will bring increased rain chances closer to Labor Day

Tropical waves increase rain chances as early as late weekend

Unlike the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic has been very quiet for the past month as cooler than average water temperatures and multiple rounds of Saharan Dust have kept chances of tropical development down.

The system is located approximately 130 miles southeast of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands.

The Met Éireann representative also mentioned that if such a storm does hit the North Atlantic, to the best of their knowledge, Ireland isn't likely to be affected. The MJO is a global player in the tropics - an eastward moving grouping of clouds, showers and winds that traverses the planet and returns to its starting point in 30 to 60 days.

The system is then expected to move away from the islands and intensify into a hurricane by the middle of next week. Regardless, even though this tropical wave will bring a higher chance of rain through the beginning of next week it won't be all that different from the types of storms we have seen recently.

The term "potential tropical cyclone" refers to a tropical disturbance that is not yet a tropical depression/storm but will likely bring watch-or-warning-worthy conditions to an area in the near future.

Raiders and DE Khalil Mack 'essentially nowhere' in contract talks
The good news for the Browns is that the Raiders are now "weighing" multiple trade offers, according to NFL .com. Donald was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2017, and Mack was in 2016.

The depression is expected to strengthen and become Tropical Storm Florence tonight or Saturday. But shear is forecast to decrease in the weeks ahead, leaving open the possibility for more powerful storms.

Looking out to the end of next week, long-range models hint at a continued active period for the Atlantic as easterly waves march off the African coast.

Hurricane season ends November 30, but September 10 is historically the "peak" day for storm activity in the Atlantic.

Florence would be the season's sixth named storm.

After Florence, the next name on the 2018 storm list is Gordon.
