Truck reportedly intentionally drives into Fox News studio in Dallas

Dallas Fox 4 attack

Less than a week ago, federal authorities charged a California man with threatening to kill employees of the Boston Globe, which had led hundreds of USA news organizations to editorialize in favor of press freedom.

Hernandez later died at the hospital and Fry was arrested and taken to jail for probation violation on a DWI conviction.

Police detained a "ranting" man accused of crashing a pickup truck into a Fox affiliate television station building Wednesday morning in downtown Dallas during a live newscast.

Brandon Todd, another FOX 4 reporter, tweeted a photo of who he claims is the man who "smashed his truck into our station this morning".

Among the papers were printouts of a WFAA article about Fry from 2012.

One flyer said: "We need the cavalry". They were trying to kill me, and they missed, and they killed Roberto Carlos Hernandez, and ever since I've been running for my life, and I don't know what to do.

Video from Texas Sky Ranger showed the crash created a mess of papers scattered on the ground.

Dallas police investigated for several hours to make sure nothing was in a bag left outside. A few staff members kept reporting from a secure location as the incident unfolded about 6 a.m., the station said.

Most of the journalists and workers in the newsroom were evacuated from the building.

Witnesses reported the man shouted, "high treason", as he stood outside the building.

"He's in custody now but the bomb squad is on its way", the station wrote. A bomb-sniffing dog checked vehicles parked in the studio parking lot and lots nearby as well. The man was taken into custody by the Dallas police department.

Fry was described as being in an "agitated mental state", during the incident, according to Fox.
