U.S. President Donald Trump boasted about "the extraordinary progress we've made" in his address to the United Nations General Assembly in NY, but was met with laughter from the audience when he said he had done more than "almost any administration in the history of our country".

First of all, Trump was late to the assembly, and missed his slot at the podium, forcing Ecuador's president, Lenin Moreno Garcés, to take his place. Watch live in the player above.

Trump told the world leaders, who were evidently in high spirits, that the American economy is "booming like never before". On Monday, he participated in a counter-narcotics event calling for global action to address the illegal movement and abuse of drugs.

Trump often criticized former President Barack Obama's approach to foreign affairs and claimed the world was "laughing" at the U.S. under Obama's leadership.

"I honour the right of every nation in this room to pursue its own customs, beliefs and traditions", he said.

He added: "Today we commit to fighting the drug epidemic together".

President Trump addresses the 73rd session of the U.N. General Assembly in NY on Tuesday.

Trump was making his eagerly-awaited president's address at the United Nations when he typically boasted about his administration being the "most accomplished" in America's history.

Delta restarts flights after tech issue
The airline had stopped flights after a system outage, according to a statement on the airline's website . In a press release made at 8:28 p.m., Delta said its IT teams are working diligently to solve the issue.

"We've accomplished more than any other administration in American history". Trump says the deal was a "horrible" agreement that didn't do enough to contain Iranian "aggression".

In response, Trump reiterated the USA commitment to a "campaign of economic pressure" to deny Iran funds for its "regional behavior", and that more sanctions will follow after the resumption of oil sanctions on November 5. The Tuesday morning speech at United Nations headquarters in New York City also touched on improving relations with North Korea and the escalating trade war with China.

As a precondition for any dialogue, Rouhani said Trump would need to fix the damage done by exiting the nuclear deal. "America's - so true", Trump said, eliciting a laugh from the audience.

Those efforts will all be on display as Trump addressed the gathering of world leaders, delivering a speech that - like a year ago - touted the President's "foreign policy successes".

Trump also re-echoed his past criticism of the world body, hitting out at the UN-backed International Criminal Court and the recently-proposed Global Compact on Migration.

On Tuesday, Trump touted "tremendous progress" in his negotiations with Kim, even though the North Korean leader has so far taken few concrete steps to eliminate his country's illicit nuclear program.

"But those days are over", Trump said during the speech, his second to the General Assembly.

Trump used some form of the word "sovereign" more than 20 times during his United Nations address previous year, and will likely return to the theme repeatedly on Tuesday, aides said.
